Metro Area Waterfalls

For those who are looking to venture out, and those who are still uncertain about venturing too far, here is a list of photo worthy waterfalls right in our backyard.

Hidden Falls Regional Park, 1313 Hidden Falls Dr., St. Paul – Located along the Mississippi River bluffs just below Lock and Dam 1, in Hidden Falls Regional Park. There are 6.7 miles of paved trails that run along wooded bottomlands next to the Mississippi.

Of course, there's always our iconic Minnehaha Falls, 4801 Minnehaha Dr. S., Minneapolis – A 53-foot waterfall that’s been attracting visitors since the late 1800s.Minnehaha Regional Park was originally a state park until the City of Minneapolis purchased in in 1889.

St. Anthony Falls, 1 Portland Ave., Minneapolis – Located near the Guthrie Theater, you can view the falls from the Stone Arch Bridge and also get some great views of the Minneapolis skyline. This is a great place to try some night photography from the bridge.

Bridal Veil Falls, 351 E. River Pkwy., Minneapolis – Located at the east end of the Cappelan bridge, Bridal Veil Falls used to be one of the area’s favorite tourism spots, as early as 1860.It’s easy to miss if you haven’t been there before.

Shadow Falls Park, 30 Mississippi Blvd., St. Paul – One of the few falls in the metro area that you can go behind the water flow. It’s in a hidden location, but worth the hike.

Be sure to check ahead before you go in case of closures or inaccessibility.
